Sea Star Journey Galapagos Cruise

Designed and built in Ecuador in 2011, the Sea Star Journey is the perfect blend of contemporary design and luxurious accommodation for your Galápagos cruise. The operators have cleverly designed three different itineraries, each with a different flavor, allowing you to explore different aspects of the Galápagos. You can even combine them to extend your trip and see more of this unique archipelago. Just speak to one of our Galápagos experts to tailor this cruise to your exact requirements.

Luxurious surroundings
As you sail between the stunning islands of the archipelago, the Sea Star Journey will provide you with a superb luxury experience. The yacht accommodates a maximum of 16 passengers, ensuring an unrivalled level of personal service and comfort.

There's a choice of suites on board to suit your needs, including twin and double bed accommodations. The twin suites on the upper deck can be connected, making them ideal for families or those travelling in groups.

All Sea Star Journey suites feature independent air conditioning, flat-screen televisions, DVD players, stunning private bathrooms with premium biodegradable toiletries, and panoramic windows that bring the sights of the Galápagos right into your room.

For the ultimate travel experience, consider the Sea Star Suite on the upper deck. This suite has been designed to feel like your very own apartment in the Galápagos. In addition to a king-size bed, the suite features a sumptuous lounge area and the largest panoramic windows on board.

Space to relax
Despite her boutique luxury style, Sea Star Journey is a relaxed yacht. In the cozy dining room, you'll enjoy a range of stunning international and Ecuadorian dishes created by our experienced chef.

A well-stocked bar offers soft drinks, juices, beer, wine, premium spirits and cocktails. Complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water are available 24/7.

Soak up the sun
The beautiful sundeck offers plenty of shade for when the equatorial sun is too strong, as well as ample sunbathing areas for those who want to soak up the rays! There are two Jacuzzi pools, one covered and one in the sun, to suit all tastes. The whole area has been thoughtfully designed to provide a mix of social spaces and areas of privacy.

Our comments.
Sea Star Journey is one of our favourite yachts. A Sea Star cruise offers a superb mix of high-end luxury and a fantastic, friendly and welcoming ambience. The sundeck is amazing – one of the largest in this class of yacht. And it's incredible to have two pools – one for sun lovers and one for those who prefer the shade.

Owned by a local family
What makes this experience even more special is the Tipan Mora family, who have been deeply involved in the Galápagos since 1991. They are dedicated to providing travelers with the best experience possible while supporting conservation efforts. Two key family members, Williams and Mayra, serve as guides and are part of the operations team, providing a personal insight into the unique wonders of the Galápagos.

Every guest on the Sea Star is treated like family, thanks to the Tipan Mora family's extensive experience in customer service and meticulous attention to detail. This ensures memorable experiences both on board and ashore, making your Galápagos adventure truly exceptional.

Food & Drinks on board the Sea Star

The food on our Galápagos cruises is some of the best you will find in South America. Most of the chefs on board are internationally trained and have experience working in the best hotels and restaurants in Ecuador and around the world.

You can expect a first class selection of food including a good variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, locally sourced poultry and fish/seafood, rice and pasta dishes. Most boats will always have some typical Ecuadorian dishes on the menu during your cruise. If you have special dietary requirements, these can usually be accommodated by the chef, provided you give advance notice. Please make sure you inform us of any allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking. If you leave it until you arrive at the dock, it may not be possible to accommodate your needs.

Most ships serve a variety of options at mealtimes in a relaxed buffet style. At the first-class and luxury end of the market, some ships have more formal dining rooms, where you are served at your table. However, the atmosphere on board our cruises is always relaxed and never stuffy or formal.

Sustainable Tourism

At Galapatours we love and respect the pristine ecosystems and fascinating wildlife of the Galápagos Islands. To protect the archipelago, all Galápagos vessels must have sophisticated water filtration systems, modern, efficient engines, and strict maintenance schedules to minimize pollution. In addition, the Galápagos National Park Authority sets exact itineraries that dictate which ships can visit which highlights on which days and times, and limits the number of passengers.

But at Galapatours we like to go even further: We voluntarily offset all the CO2 emissions of every cruise we sell – at no cost to you. You can also do your bit by travelling responsibly and following our eco-guidelines during your stay. Click here to find out more about these guidelines, our commitment to sustainable tourism and the Galápagos National Park regulations.

Sea Star Galapagos Cruise

September 2023

We had such a fantastic time visiting Galapagos on the Sea Star cruise! We booked last minute and Hitomi was very helpful in answering our questions and get everything confirmed quickly. The crew members and naturalist guide were very resourceful and nice. We got to visit multiple islands with hiking and snorkeling activities to see plenty of wildlife (6 day 5 night itinerary). Food onboard was FANTASTIC! They also provide snacks after excursions to help us refuel. It's also great to meet people from all over the world on the cruise and share this memory together! Highly recommend the Sea Star cruise to anyone who's visiting Galapagos!

After our time in the Galapagos, we’ve already begun the early stages of planning a return trip. It was an amazing adventure that inspired each member of the family in their own ways. My wife is already brainstorming a book based on the trip and my daughter is asking more questions about the evolutionary adaptations between the different islands we saw. As for me, I find myself with pictures galore to edit and compile and I’ve been posting to social media little lessons we learned during our time on the islands. Also, on the first trip to the Galapagos Tortoise Breeding Center, the guide, Hanzel, and I talked about the damage and dangers posed by plastic waste the efforts being taken in the islands to combat that. I’ve taken that talk to heart and am writing a proposal to my local congress to try to implement some similar ideas since we also live in a land full of nature that we want to protect. (It was also rather humbling to realize that the tortoises there in the nursery could potentially meet my great great grandchildren). So much of this trip would’ve been on my Bucket List if I’d only known just how amazing the experiences were. Snorkeling with sea lions coming over to see you, or just drifting with sea turtles, or the flashes of silver as you swam through a school of sardines, these are images forever written in my mind now. The sheer volume of nature all around you at nearly all times was almost to the point of overwhelming, but in a good way. The animals are so cared for and protected that they’ve become almost tame. So many animals came over to us and passed around us like we were no more than another rock or tree. We saw the wondrous world of these idyllic islands and I feel like we’ve all been forever changed by it.

I cannot say enough to praise the amazing wildlife experience We visited Galapagos the first time in 2013 with my wife, we stayed at the Sol y Mar and did a hotel based program which was really nice, yet we felt we had missed out on the more remote islands like Fernandina and Isabela. The big issue was that we get seasick, yet we fell in love with the Islands and had to return. We contacted the same travel agent and they booked us on the Sea Star. This time we were joined by my son and his wife. We just got back, we did a 6 day cruise from March 2 - 7th visiting the Western side of Isabela, Fernandina and Santiago islands. We had a wonderful time, the planning from our agent was excellent, this time of year the ocean is a bit calmer so it was perhaps the only window we could have and enjoy the western side of Galapagos which is known to be choppier. Another plus of this time of the year was the warmer water for snorkeling, for us it is a big deal, we live in Florida and are spoilt for warm seas. I cannot say enough to praise the amazing wildlife experience, we got to spot everything from orcas to penguins. Swimming alongside both was exciting and really an unexpected adventure. Having our guide in the water with us while we had our surprise encounter with an orca was a small reassurance as well being close to the zodiac to climb out as a precaution. The amount of marine iguanas, sea lions, blue footed boobies was much larger than at visitor sites closer to Santa Cruz. We also enjoyed seeing the flightless cormorant and learning about its evolution process. The difference from staying at a hotel was large, the cruising experience allows for more time efficiency as we did not have to transfer across an island and then navigate back and forth to a visitor site. By cruising we experienced at least 5 hours per day of time exploring the premier wildlife locations of the island vs 5 to 6 hours transfering back and forth from the hotel and then 2 hours of exploring a location and having to cut it short in order to get back. The downside was that we did get seasick, yet in the end with the help of pills we overcame it, it was the price we paid in order to have the superior experience that is cruising around the islands. In regards to our yacht the Sea Star, it was very comfortable, well kept and met our expectations. Cabins were much larger than we expected on a boat. The captain was nice to hold back navigations until meals were finished and tried his best at anchoring inside calm bays to avoid movement, this was the advantage of being on a smaller yacht. The food was really good, we loved learning how to prepare ceviche Ecuador style and appreciated the good amount of food, at first we were worried it might be too gourmet, yet in the end the portions were large and having the buffet for lunch allowed for seconds. All in all I would recommend using the Sea Star, just note that it is also known as Domenica, at first we thought it was the wrong boat but once we walked around it matched the pictures and specifications. I hope this information helps, we had a memorable holiday. Review from: https://goo.gl/GEi7jE

To my knowledge the best yacht in the Galapagos I had the pleasure of the 5 day / 4 night itinerary on the Sea Star Journey and it was incredible - 10/10 on all counts - service, food, excursions, knowledgeable guide. I cannot fault anything it was the experience of a lifetime. I am a travel consultant specialising in Latin America and this is the best 16 passenger luxury yacht in the Galapagos to my knowledge. You won't regret it I just returned from this yacht last week. Believe me, it worth it! The yacht is in very good shape, it has great facilities on board. The cabins are like it is shown on the website, and very spacious. I was surprised by it. Also, it was very clean, and they always make very nice figures with the towels, and at night they make your bed, just to jump on the bed. The food was really nice. It has a great variety of dishes. Always two types of meat, and most of the time one was fish or seafood. I love it! I has the opportunity to kayaking in a single one, but they have enough kayaks for all the guests, I snorkeled and the equipment was good, and I hiked the hills. I did the itinerary C, which visited the Isabela Island, and has a lot of amazing landscapes. Hope you decide this boat, and you will see that you won´t regreat it. Infinity

The luxury yacht constructed in 2018 is a testament to the pinnacle of purpose-built vessels, with its modern design and luxurious features making it the epitome of sophistication. Infinity has been crafted to offer unparalleled luxury while being environmentally friendly, and to provide a safe and secure experience for guests throughout their journey. It has been designed to exceed international maritime safety standards and offer opulent accommodations that perfectly complement the stunning views from the private balconies. One of the unique aspects of Infinity is its impressive capacity, which can accommodate up to 20 passengers. This is unusual for Galápagos vessels, as most are limited to 16 guests due to the maximum number of people that can accompany a Galápagos naturalist guide inside the National Park. Infinity has redefined the rule book by offering two naturalist guides, resulting in a more intimate and personalized experience with a smaller group of only 10 guests. This allows for a closer encounter with the remarkable Galápagos creatures and ample time to learn about the fascinating islands from the bilingual guides. In addition to kayaks and snorkeling gear, Infinity also features pangas and other facilities to enhance your enjoyment on board. The yacht offers a range of itineraries, including 8-, 5-, and 4-day options that visit some of the more remote islands that other cruise vessels may not, such as the incredible [Genovesa](//galapatours.com/destinations/genovesa "Galápagos Genovesa Island") and [Fernandina](//galapatours.com/destinations/fernandina "Fernandina Galápagos Island"). The yacht has been designed to offer ample space for socializing, fine dining, and relaxing with a cocktail, making for a truly special and unforgettable experience. The vessel boasts inside and al fresco dining, an al fresco bar, and a sun deck with breathtaking views and a jacuzzi. The cabins on Infinity are designed to provide a truly luxurious experience, with panoramic windows leading to private balconies and private en suite bathrooms that are beautifully finished. All rooms feature flat screen TVs, and there are two suites available that offer a spacious living room area and floor-to-ceiling glass panels leading to large private balconies. Food on board is restaurant quality, and guests can enjoy sumptuous meals in the spacious dining area or a relaxed lunch or barbecue on the al fresco dining porch. Infinity is equipped with the latest technology and safety features, making it one of the most comfortable and luxurious vessels in the Galápagos. This remarkable ship is perfect for those seeking an intimate exploration of the wonders of the Galápagos Islands in unparalleled style and luxury, and it is certain to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be treasured forever.

With Passion you can enjoy a Galápagos cruise that amazes your taste buds, as well as all your other senses! See the wonders of Galápagos The Passion naturalist cruise itineraries were designed by Fiddi Angermeyer, one of the pioneers of Galápagos cruising. He has extensive experience and intimate knowledge of the archipelago and its currents and winds— knowledge he has combined to give you the ultimate voyage of discovery. He tells us: "When I was a boy in the early 60s my parents and their brothers, original Galápagos colonizers, offered adventurous trips through the archipelago on their fishing boats and that is how the cruise industry in the islands was born. For over 30 years we have personally rebuilt all our vessels, converting them into the ideal way to the archipelago, with the comforts and safety of today, but with the charm of past centuries." With Passion you have a choice of two varied itineraries, one to the east and the other to the west. The western itinerary goes around Fernandina and the Isabella, with their many volcanoes and crystal clear waters teeming with life. The eastern itinerary sails through the easterly islands with their impressive landscapes and bird and animal species that can’t be found anywhere else. As well as dry and wet landings, you will also enjoy snorkeling and swimming, and Passion carries kayaks for guests to use to add another dimension to your Galápagos adventure. Our comments This is the pinnacle in luxury Galápagos cruising. We can’t think of any better way to celebrate a life milestone like a wedding or an anniversary, or a retirement or other key moment than to book the Master Suite on the yacht Passion and visit the stunning Galápagos. Whether you book a suite or one of the gorgeous staterooms, you will not find a more luxurious and attentive experience. The Angermeyer touch is everywhere here, from the thoughtfully designed itineraries to the smallest details in the service and presentation on board. A Galápagos cruise on Passion will give you memories for a lifetime.

Grand Majestic Galapagos Cruise
Luxury

Grand Majestic

Designed and built in the USA in 2018, Grand Majestic is being hailed as the first MegaYacht in the Galápagos fleet. Constructed to the same exacting specifications as the best private luxury yachts in the world, Grand Majestic also has another trick up her sleeve – at 25kts, she's the fastest vessel in the Galápagos cruise fleet. That means you can spend more time experiencing what the Galápagos has to offer and less time traveling between visitor sites. All this while enjoying the highest standards of luxury and service. With only 8 cabins in total, there are superb levels of space, light and luxury. Most cabins features panoramic windows for unparalleled views of the islands. Each has been luxuriously decorated with designer fabrics and the highest quality fittings. Stunning bathrooms, climate control, luxury linens and the finest toiletries are just a few of the amenities enjoyed by all cabins. The grand master suite boasts an enormous 400 square feet of space, and is the perfect choice for that very special "trip of a lifetime". Communal spaces onboard are no less spectacular. Our favorite is the luxurious al fresco dining area up on the sundeck, offering absolutely stunning views as you enjoy the finest Ecuadorian and international cuisine and wines. The main deck houses the indoor dining area, extensively stocked bar, and a wonderfully comfortable saloon area featuring a stunning communal leather sofa. This is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing drink before dinner after your day's adventures, or to listen to your naturalist guide brief you about the wonders in store for you on your next excursion. Another standout feature is the large jacuzzi hot tub on the sundeck. It's a remarkable place to enjoy the equatorial night sky as the stars come out on a warm evening. If you would like to charter Grand Majestic for your own private use, we are able to facilitate this. Please speak to one of our Galápagos experts, and we can arrange this VIP service on your behalf. Grand Majestic is operated by Galápagos veterans, and they have put all their skills and experience to use in designing superb itineraries that allow you to see almost everything the Galápagos has to offer. As well as standout 8-day cruises, Grand Majestic can also cater for those with less time available in the Galápagos but who still wish to see as much as possible. Special 4- and 5-day itineraries are available. Excursions include wet and dry landings at some of the most stunning spots in the islands, as well as plenty of opportunity for snorkeling with exotic creatures like marine iguanas, Galápagos sharks and the friendly Galápagos Sea Lions. Of course, top of the range snorkeling equipment is available for you on a complimentary basis. Her bilingual naturalist guides are the among the best in the Galápagos, and they will enhance your visit with their in-depth knowledge of the islands' flora and fauna, as well as their expertise in locating the iconic species that can't be found anywhere else. With her speed, Grand Majestic allows you to enjoy more "contact time" with the Galápagos than any other vessel in the fleet. The fact that this speed is accompanied by standards of luxury never before seen in a boat of this type means that a Galápagos cruise on the Grand Majestic is an experience you will always remember. We have been working with the operator of this ship for many years, and we know they have poured heart and soul into Grand Majestic to bring you the best Galápagos cruise you can experience.
