Beagle is one of those Galapagos yachts where the ship itself becomes part of the story. Named after the vessel that brought Charles Darwin to the islands, she is a 105 ft steel-hulled brigantine with teak decks, a family-run feel and a romantic motor-sail atmosphere that is very different from a modern hotel-style yacht. We like her especially for travelers planning a birthday, anniversary or simply a Galapagos trip with a little more maritime character.
Life on board is classic and intimate. Below deck, six air-conditioned cabins have solid wood fittings, a double lower bunk, a single upper bunk and private bathrooms with hot-water showers; a smaller seventh cabin can accommodate one or two more guests. The salon is warm and nautical, with teak furniture, sofas, a small library and games, while the dining room has picture windows and a sociable table made for swapping stories after landings. Meals and snacks can be served in the salon or outside on deck.
Beagle is not only about nostalgia. Her two itineraries cover a wide sweep of the archipelago, and one of her standout privileges is permission to snorkel at Fernandina's Punta Espinoza, one of the most exciting wildlife sites in the islands. Masks, fins and snorkels are available on board, and four double kayaks add quiet water-level exploration when conditions and permits allow. Choose Beagle if you want a classic sailing mood, strong Galapagos substance and a small-ship atmosphere. Choose something more contemporary if you want private balconies, very large cabins or a polished luxury-yacht style.

Food on Beagle fits the yacht's warm, social rhythm. Meals are served in the salon or outside on deck, with a mix of Ecuadorian and international flavors rather than formal restaurant theatre. The pleasure is partly the setting: picture windows, teak, sea air and a shared table where the day's snorkels, landings and wildlife sightings naturally become the conversation. Dietary requirements can usually be handled with advance notice.
Beagle's responsible-travel strength is practical and tied to Galapagos rules. Routes, visitor sites, landing times, group behavior and naturalist guiding are controlled by the National Park, and that framework protects places such as Fernandina and Punta Espinoza. Her small scale, snorkel focus and kayak opportunities help guests experience wildlife quietly and close to the water. We would not present Beagle as a high-tech eco-yacht; her value is classic, low-volume travel guided by strict island rules.
