What is the Galapagos National Park Entrance Fee?

The Galapagos National Park Service charges all visitors to the islands a $100 park entry fee (reduced to $50 for children under 12 years old). This fee must be paid, in cash, at your port of arrival. If you do not pay the fee, you will not be allowed to leave the terminal.

Some people have expressed surprise about paying an "entry fee" simply to set foot on the islands, but the proceeds of the Galapagos entry fee go directly into the ongoing conservation, protection and management of the islands. The proceeds are split between several important institutions as follows:

40% to Galapagos National Park;

30% to Galapagos local government;

15% to Forestry and Marine Park protection institutions;

15% to INGALA, the Ecuadorian Navy and provincial Inspectorate for enforcement of rules protecting the Galapagos from introduction of non-indigenous species.
