G Adventures was founded by Bruce Poon Tip in 1990 as an alternative to both large escorted tours and fully independent backpacking. The company describes itself as a social enterprise and small-group travel company, with community tourism at the center of its operating philosophy. Its nonprofit partner, Planeterra, was established in 2003, and G Adventures groups its responsible-travel work under the name G for Good.
In the Galapagos, the current G Adventures cruise fleet consists of Reina Silvia Voyager, Yolita and Eden. Each accommodates 16 guests, but the onboard experience is not interchangeable. Reina Silvia Voyager is a modern catamaran in the company's upgraded category, with private balconies for most cabins and a Jacuzzi. Yolita is also categorized as upgraded, while Eden sits in the standard category and offers a wider mix of cabin types. Those labels are useful, but itinerary and cabin position still matter more than a category name alone.
Choose the route before you become attached to a ship.
