  • Owner-operated with 20 years experience;
  • Comfortable and relaxed ambiance;
  • Dive platform for fantastic swimming and snorkeling;
  • Full size sundeck for sun-bathing and star-gazing.

This 75ft motor yacht is one of the few owner-operated vessels in the Galápagos fleet, and that means there’s a relaxed and family feel to cruises on Fragata. Although the islands and their wildlife are always the stars of the show, the crew make sure that you’ll have a wonderful time on board.

Relaxed ambiance Fragata’s crew take pride in their vessel, and this is reflected in her lovely bright and comfortable decor. The communal areas feature plenty of beautiful honey-colored natural wood blended with bright and fresh soft furnishing and fabrics. The main lounge area is made for socializing with three sides taken up with a huge, plush sofa - a perfect place to relax with a drink from the yacht’s bar, or to listen to wonderful talks from the yacht’s bilingual naturalist guide. There’s a large TV with DVD player and a music system for everyone to enjoy. The dining room is also designed to reflect this boat’s friendly ambiance, with two large oval tables meaning meals with new friends are the perfect way to share your day’s adventures.

Social spaces Cabins on Fragata are placed over two of the 4 decks and provide a choice of twin and double accommodation. All cabins have individual air conditioning, a private en suite bathroom with full-size shower, and are fitted with beautiful wood floors and fittings, and bright and airy wall finishes and fabrics.

Sun-worshippers and wildlife spotters will appreciate Fragata’s full size upper sun-deck with comfortable loungers that you can place under the ample shade canopy or lie back in the full sun. Snorkeling in Galápagos is a must-do activity, and Fragata carries full snorkeling equipment for you to enjoy, with wet suit hire on request. She also benefits from a diving platform at the rear, which makes entering and leaving the water easy for everyone, and makes another perfect spot for relaxing and watching the world go by.

Personal service With a maximum of 16 guests at any one time on board, Fragata’s 8 person crew gives everyone great levels of service. Her dedicated bilingual naturalist guide will take you on a fantastic variety of excursions on land and in the water and is on hand at all times to answer your questions and to provide expert insights into the marine and land ecology of Galápagos

Our comments Fragata is a beautifully maintained owner-run yacht with one of the more experienced crews in the Galápagos with over 20 years experience. The boat always has a really friendly and relaxed feel and the crew always seem to go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience on board and during excursions. We think Fragata is a great value-for-money Galápagos cruise experience.

Sustainability on board the Fragata

At Galapatours we love and respect the pristine ecosystems and fascinating wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, and we insist that our cruise partners do too. To protect the archipelago all our cruise vessels must have sophisticated water filtration systems, modern efficient engines, and strict maintenance schedules to minimize pollution.

The Galápagos National Park authority also defines exact cruising routes that dictate which ships can visit highlights at specific times, as well as limiting passenger numbers. These measures ensure that animals and habitats are not disturbed by too many visitors.

But at Galapatours we like to go even further. We voluntarily offset all the CO2 emissions of every cruise we sell - at no cost to you. And you can also play your part by traveling responsibly and following our Eco Guidelines during your stay. Click here to find out more about these guidelines, our commitment to sustainable tourism, and the Galápagos National Park rules.

Food & Drinks on board the Fragata

The food on our Galapágos Cruises is among the very best you will find in South America. Most of the on-board chefs are internationally trained and have prior experience working in the best hotels and restaurants in Ecuador and indeed around the world.

You can expect a first-class selection of food, including a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced poultry and fish/seafood, rice and pasta dishes. Most boats will always include some typical Ecuadorian dishes on the menu during your cruise. If you have specific dietary requirements then these can usually be accommodated by the chef providing you have given advance notice. Please make sure you tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements you have at the time you book with us. If you leave it until you arrive at the dockside, then it may well be impossible to accommodate your needs.

Most boats serve a range of options at meal times in a relaxed buffet-style. At the first class and luxury end of the market, some boats have more formal dining where you will be served at your seat. However the atmosphere is always relaxed on board our cruises, and never stuffy or formal.

What an unforgettable trip! I traveled in the Fragata in late February with my cousin, we spend 8 days in it and I think we really got to know the Galapagos Islands thanks to good service good attitude of the crew and especially the vast knowledge of all animal species plants and the territory of our guide MIlton. My cousin and I arrived at the airport in Baltra from where our journey began in the islands when we were received very friendly to take the boat, I think the service was espctacular. Once we got on the boat the crew took us to our cabin, 9, which is on the top floor, and were surprised. It was really nice , clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was perfectly clean as for the boat in general, was in very good shape, the upper deck was very nice, which is half covered by a sun awning, perfect to rest between activities or get a tan. the food on the boat was for me a good sorprise as taste variety and quantity was always satisfying for us, the snorkeling experince that the Fragata yath offers is a unique experience and also the hikes were really nice, I think i achieve to see all the wildlife I had in mind when traveling to Galapagos.

Great experience on the Fragata Just returned from a 4 day/5 night stay on the Fragata. Alex was our guide. Our family of four had a great experience - exposure to a great set of fellow travelers from all over the world; ample opportunities to hike, snorkle, and swim; comfortable (albeit tight) quarters. We lucked out with the weather - only had rain on the last day (which didn't interfere with any planned activities). We found the crew to be quite friendly and helpful; the food was not gourmet but there was plenty for all 16 of us and always some vegetable and fruit offerings. Our only difficulty was seasickness but how can you avoid that when traveling in an intimate ship on the open seas? Feedback from: https://goo.gl/QVqHgw

No problems on our side, we really enjoyed the cruise! I took a cruise on the Fragata yacht in the middle of Feb 2014, and had a wonderful time. It seems that the maintenance on the ship fixed problems (at least when we were on the yacht) with the A/C (many people on TripAdvisor mentioned problems here!) No one complained about termites or fleas, though plumbing was a little problematic - but solved with a toilet plunger by a cheerful crew. Food was excellent (always lots of vegetables), fresh fruit juices during some meals, soups before lunch... all delicious. We had a few healthy young men on the ship so the quantities of food wasn't enough, but at least it was good. We had a great guide, great crew (always super cheerful and helpful). Wonderful time, and I would recommend the yacht based on our experience.
