A Galapaos Cruise aboard the Catamaran Lonesome George
- Diving mixed with other excursions - great for non-divers too;
- Modern, bright and spacious;
- Environmentally friendly design and systems;
- Stable catamaran for smoother sailing.
Only 2 years old, the elegant catamaran Lonesome George was named after the famous Pinta Island tortoise, the last of his kind, who died in 2012. George became a symbol for conservation and preservation of species in Galapagos, and the catamaran that bears his name was built on ecological principles in his honor.

Care for the environment
One of the most environmentally friendly vessels in the Galapagos fleet, Lonesome George was built with modern, highly-efficient engines and has sails for even less environmental impact. George is fitted with a solar system that provides all the electrical power that the catamaran’s systems require. If you wish to see the Galapagos with the least amount of impact then Lonesome George is one of the best ways to do it.
Modern bright cabins
With twin hulls for excellent stability compared to traditional motor yachts, Lonesome George has 8 beautifully decorated cabins, featuring a mix of doubles and twin bunks (including some for triple occupancy). Cabins are amongst the brightest and airiest in the class, featuring crisp white finishes and light golden wood fittings for a real sense of space. All cabins are individually air conditioned and feature private bathrooms with full size showers and sinks with hot water. 12v and 120v power is available for charging and powering your devices.
Another benefit of the catamaran design is the amount of social space you will enjoy. Lonesome George benefits from two dining rooms, one outdoors for enjoying wonderful al fresco meals. Inside, the lounge and bar area offers comfortable seating in a social layout - a perfect way to spend the evenings with new friends and to learn about the ecology of the islands from your bilingual naturalist guide. Outside there are plenty of comfortable places to sit and watch the islands, and a solarium for soaking up the rays. Guests can stand right at the twin bows to watch the dolphins play, or even lie on the netting spread between the hulls - a unique “hammock” suspending you just above the Pacific waves.
Great for divers and non-divers
Lonesome George offers a unique mix of itineraries and is one of the few in the fleet that offers combinations of diving excursions with other land-based activities like hiking, making it perfect for groups or couples with differing interests.
Our comments
We really like the light and airy cabins on this eco-friendly catamaran, and the extra space you enjoy from the twin hull design. If you love to dive but don’t just want a diving itinerary then Lonesome George has a great range of additional excursions. This is a great cruise for couple where one is a non-diver for example. This is a great modern boat with a very knowledgeable crew and represents really good value for money.Click here to read less
