Aqua Expeditions' Galapagos voyages are operated aboard one exceptional ship: the 16-guest Aqua Mare. This page brings its ship profile, current departure dates and prices together so you can judge whether this distinctive superyacht is right for you. We are independent Galapagos specialists and know the ship and the people behind the operation. Ask us about the seven very different suites, route choice, guide ratio, onboard atmosphere or how Aqua Mare compares with other luxury and small-ship options. You receive the same published fare as booking directly, with independent advice, help arranging flights, hotels and land extensions, and the additional safety of booking through a German tour operator.
Aqua Mare is Aqua Expeditions' complete Galapagos fleet. The 50-meter yacht carries 16 guests in seven individually designed suites, served by 16 crew and two naturalist guides. That produces unusually generous space and a maximum of eight travelers per guide during excursions. The practical trade-off is equally clear: Aqua Mare suits travelers who value sophisticated design, food, personal service and substantial private space, while a smaller or simpler yacht may offer a more informal atmosphere at a lower price. Open the ship card below for cabins, photographs and technical details, then use the dates section for current departures.

Aqua Expeditions began in the Peruvian Amazon in 2011, founded by Francesco Galli Zugaro and Fred Brown around a small-ship model that combined remote exploration with unusually refined hospitality. Aqua Mare brought that approach to the Galapagos in 2022 and remains the company's only vessel in the archipelago. Its seven suites vary substantially, from compact double cabins to an expansive Owner's Suite, so choosing the right category matters more here than a simple deck label suggests.
Food is a defining part of the concept. Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino created a menu that combines Ecuadorian produce with Peruvian Nikkei influences. Excursion days are led by two naturalist guides, supported by two tenders, kayaks and paddleboards. Aqua Expeditions also publishes a partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation, which gives guests a route into the conservation science behind the islands.
Aqua Mare is not automatically the answer to every luxury search. Travelers wanting the smallest possible vessel, a more rustic expedition mood or a lower fare may prefer another ship. Use our wider Galapagos cruise search to compare alternatives, or ask us to explain the differences without sales theatre.
