  • Fully refurbished in 2019
  • Stunning, modern cabins
  • Superb new dive platform and facilities
  • Great 8-day diving itinerary

2019 saw Calipso re-launched after a truly amazing refit. Rather than a simple refurbishment program, her owners have gutted the ship and virtually rebuilt her into a fabulous multi-purpose Galápagos cruise vessel. As well as offering delightful naturalist itineraries, she also alternates by offering fantastic 8-day Galápagos diving trips to some of the world's best dive sites.

But as a diver you don't just get the benefit of her fantastic new dive platform, you also get to enjoy her stunning new interiors, making her one of the most comfortable Galápagos liveaboards in the whole fleet.

Modern comfort, classic service Calipso now offers ten beautifully appointed cabins for up to 16 guests. Featuring huge windows (no portholes on this liveaboard), your cabin will give you stunning view of the Galápagos Islands as you wake each morning. Modern and minimalist, yet warm and welcoming, the decor is calming and luxurious. Every cabin features a contemporary en suite bathroom with rainfall shower heads and high-end fixtures. With air conditioning, dedicated USB charging points, mains power and accent lighting. You can even enjoy your own personal TV.

Sociable luxury The rest of Calipso's decks have been given the same beautiful treatment as the guest cabins. Contemporary wooden floors are complimented by high quality yet casual furniture in light shades and fabrics. The whole boat oozes understated class.

The main salon features a relaxed dining area as well as wonderfully comfortable sofas. There's a 24/7 tea and coffee station here, as well as a chic bar with a great selection of drinks available.

Outside, the brand new dive deck is state of the art. Everything you need is right at hand, and the whole space has been designed around your needs as a diver. There's a separate head here, as well as all the gear storage you need. Nitrox is also available for an additional charge.

While you're cruising to your next remarkable Galápagos diving site, why not head up to the sun deck? As well as plenty of comfortable sun loungers and an alfresco dining area you'll also find a great bar and BBQ area. And to top it off, why note relax in the large jacuzzi hot tub? Perfect!

Unrivalled Galápagos diving itineraries No matter how stunning Calipso is (and she certainly is) it's definitely the undersea Galápagos wildlife that is the star. Calipso offers a fantastic 8-day diving itinerary that has been cleverly designed to get you to the best Galápagos dive sites with time to enjoy several dives a day. Of course you will also visit two of the world's best diving sites while you are in Galápagos - Darwin and Wolf.

Calipso's bilingual dive guides are among the most experienced in the Galápagos fleet, and their knowledge and passion for these islands will help you get the most from every dive.

Our comments We can't believe the transformation of Calipso. She hasn't had a refit, she's been reinvented! The quality of her interior and her diving facilities now matches the quality of her Galápagos diving itinerary, which is superb. For times out of the water we particularly love her spacious sun deck with al fresco bar - it's the perfect place to watch the sun set at the end of another amazing day of diving in the Galápagos islands on this excellent new liveaboard.

Sustainability on board the Calipso

At Galapatours we love and respect the pristine ecosystems and fascinating wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, and we insist that our cruise partners do too. To protect the archipelago all our cruise vessels must have sophisticated water filtration systems, modern efficient engines, and strict maintenance schedules to minimize pollution.

The Galápagos National Park authority also defines exact cruising routes that dictate which ships can visit highlights at specific times, as well as limiting passenger numbers. These measures ensure that animals and habitats are not disturbed by too many visitors.

But at Galapatours we like to go even further. We voluntarily offset all the CO2 emissions of every cruise we sell - at no cost to you. And you can also play your part by traveling responsibly and following our Eco Guidelines during your stay. Click here to find out more about these guidelines, our commitment to sustainable tourism, and the Galápagos National Park rules.

Food & Drinks on board the Calipso

The food on our Galapágos Cruises is among the very best you will find in South America. Most of the on-board chefs are internationally trained and have prior experience working in the best hotels and restaurants in Ecuador and indeed around the world.

You can expect a first-class selection of food, including a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced poultry and fish/seafood, rice and pasta dishes. Most boats will always include some typical Ecuadorian dishes on the menu during your cruise. If you have specific dietary requirements then these can usually be accommodated by the chef providing you have given advance notice. Please make sure you tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements you have at the time you book with us. If you leave it until you arrive at the dockside, then it may well be impossible to accommodate your needs.

Most boats serve a range of options at meal times in a relaxed buffet-style. At the first class and luxury end of the market, some boats have more formal dining where you will be served at your seat. However the atmosphere is always relaxed on board our cruises, and never stuffy or formal.
