Alya is the ship we recommend when travelers want the islands to remain the main event, but do not want to compromise on space, privacy or a polished small-ship atmosphere. Only 16 guests share this twin-hull catamaran, and eight of her nine cabins open onto private balconies. That combination matters: after snorkeling with sea lions or walking among nesting birds, you can step into your own patch of Galapagos air instead of always returning to a public lounge.
Our clients repeatedly describe Alya as spacious, comfortable and exceptionally well run. In reviews from 2024 to 2026, the same themes return: an attentive crew, very good food, knowledgeable naturalist guiding and active days filled with snorkeling, hikes, kayaking and panga outings. One traveler called Alya the perfect size; others valued the choice between several decks and their private balcony for a quiet moment. We love that she feels contemporary and refined without turning the Galapagos into a floating-hotel experience.
The routes are another reason to choose carefully. The northern itinerary reaches Genovesa's bird colonies and the volcanic views of Bartolomé. The western route follows Isabela and Fernandina, with chances for penguins, flightless cormorants and some of the archipelago's youngest landscapes. The southern itinerary combines North Seymour, Española, Floreana and Kicker Rock. There is no universally best route: your wildlife priorities should decide, and this is where our specialists can make a real difference.
On board, the nine cabins sit on the Main and Upper Decks. Eight have private balconies and flexible double/twin beds; the ninth is a fixed-double cabin without a balcony that may be offered to a solo traveler without a single supplement, subject to availability. The sundeck jacuzzi, lounge and open-air areas give 16 guests genuine room to spread out. Starlink Wi-Fi is available, although service can be intermittent in this remote archipelago.
Book Alya if you want full expedition days followed by comfortable, private downtime. She is less suited to travelers looking for the lowest price, classic yacht character or a very slow onboard rhythm.

Food on Alya feels like part of the reward after an active day in the islands, and recent travelers consistently describe it as a highlight. Guests praise the freshness, presentation and variety, while the operator describes a mix of Ecuadorian and international cooking. Vegetarian and vegan options can be prepared when requested in advance.
All meals are included from lunch on embarkation day through breakfast on the final morning. Alya also includes a welcome cocktail, a snack after activities except on the last day, soft drinks, purified water, coffee and tea. We would describe the experience as relaxed, well-cared-for dining rather than tie it to one named chef or a dish that may change with the menu. Tell us about dietary requirements before travel so the team can confirm what can be arranged.
